Daniel Mays

Temple – Sky

We are happy to be able to announce that Daniel Mays has joined the cast of Sky One’s thriller series Temple!

Deadline has the exclusive update from Sky:

EXCLUSIVE: Mark Strong (Kingsman), Carice van Houten (Game of Thrones) and Daniel Mays (Line of Duty) will star in the Sky-commissioned thriller series Temple. The high-concept eight-parter, produced by Hera Pictures head Liza Marshall (Riviera), is playwright Mark O’Rowe’s adaptation of the acclaimed Norwegian drama series Valkyrien about the workings of an illegal and subterranean

Strong will star as Daniel, a surgeon who is driven by personal tragedy to treat anyone in his underground London clinic who is willing to pay for medical help outside the system. Aided by Lee (Mays), a disgruntled transport employee, and Anna (van Houten), a guilt-ridden medical researcher, they treat a variety of increasingly desperate and highly dangerous patients, as Daniel’s morality is tested to the limit.

Executive producers are Marshall, Strong and O’Rowe for Hera Pictures and Gabriel Silver and Anne Mensah for Sky. Luke Snellin (Wanderlust) is the lead director, with Shariff Korver (Fenix) and Lisa Siwe (Modus) following; Barney Reisz (Black Mirror) produces. Sky Vision will distribute internationally and co-fund the series, which is being lined up for Sky One in 2019.

Former Scott Free, Channel4 and Archery Pictures exec Marshall added: “After the success of Riviera, I am thrilled to be working with Sky again on my first production for Hera. I think the audience will love the world of Temple and it’s darkly funny take on life.”

Filming is expected to begin in London on September 3rd.

Temple is expected to air on Sky One later in 2019 – most likely September timeframe.

Stay tuned for updates on this exciting new project for Danny!

Good Omens – San Diego Comic Con

Good Omens was part of the Amazon Studios panel and San Diego Comic Con earlier.

Those in Ballroom 20 were treated to a behind the scenes look at the series and a trailer (still to be released publicly but was one of the St. James Park scenes with Crowley and Aziraphale):

Amazon has also released the teaser poster:

Daniel Mays stars as Arthur Young the unwitting father of the antichrist.

Commenting on his casting back in August 2017, Daniel Mays says: “Beyond overjoyed to be jumping on board Good Omens. It’s not everyday you get to play the father of the antichrist! Neil Gaiman’s scripts are out of this world and the cast they’ve assembled are second to none. Can’t wait to get cracking!

Described as equal parts humor and horror, fantasy and drama, Good Omens takes place in 2018 when the Apocalypse is near and Final Judgment is set to descend upon humanity. The armies of Good and Evil are amassing, Atlantis is rising, and tempers are flaring. Everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan — except that Aziraphale, a somewhat fussy angel, and Crowley, a fast-living demon, are not looking forward to the coming war, and someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist.

Neil Gaiman, writer, says: “Almost 30 years ago Terry Pratchett and I wrote the funniest novel we could about the end of the world, populated with angels and demons, not to mention an 11 year-old Antichrist, witch-finders and the four horsepeople of the Apocalypse. It became many people’s favourite book. Three decades later, it’s going to make it to the screen. I can’t think of anyone we’d rather make it with than BBC Studios, and I just wish Sir Terry was alive to see it.”

Joe Lewis, Head of Comedy and Drama, Amazon Studios, says: “Spanning not only the universe but also the entirety of time, Neil Gaiman has created a story that may be the largest ever told on television. We’re excited to be working with BBC Studios to bring Neil and Terry Pratchett’s incredible book to life and to Prime members everywhere.”

The End is Nigh…in 2019! Good Omens will launch globally on Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories in 2019 including in the UK, where it will also air on BBC Two at a later date after it’s online debut in the US.

Two For Joy – World Premiere

Two for Joy starring Daniel Mays, Billie Piper, and Samantha Morton premiered last evening at the 72nd Annual Edinburgh Film Fest. We are already hearing great things from the premiere screening!

Two For Joy –

Vi has been forced to grow up fast; mother-daughter roles are reversed, Vi is Aisha’s carer as well as trying to control her rascal younger brother Troy, who with no father figure and a struggling mother, is a law unto himself – something must give, the situation must change.

TWO FOR JOY has been conceived and developed over the last six years through a series of short films and photo projects by Tom Beard. It’ll be a bold, unique and distinct departure from your classical social-realist film, while un-voyeuristically exploring and bringing into the public eye the consequence of some serious, British, topical themes that are often short-changed by the government, and under-represented on our screens.

Daniel Mays stars as Lias.

A wider release of the film is expected but look for it on the 2018 film fest circuit.
