News updates for this week:

(added 7 October): Daniel Mays and Leo Bill will be starring in a new BBC Radio play by Jonny O’Neill called “Community Service.” This new radio play is adapted from O’Neill’s stage play of the same name and is set in Bows Magistrate’s Court. It gives a look at life in Modern-day East London. As always, we will have more updates on this exciting new project nearer to transmission time.

– The Red Lion production ended at The National Theatre last week.  Congratulations to Daniel Mays, Calvin Demba, and Peter Wight on a fantastic run.

– The Guardian + National Theatre Debates:

The National Theatre and The Guardian come together for a brand new series of current-affairs  panel discussions, inspired by plays from the current repertoire and featuring Guardian and Observer journalists:

The Red Lion: The Future of Football
Saturday 28 November
Tackling corruption, globalisation, and inequality in the struggle for the soul of the beautiful game. Football’s biggest issues, explored by David Conn, chaired by Evan Davis.

Tickets are on sale to NT members now and open to the general public later this week.

– LA Productions amazing production of Common has been nominated for an international Emmy award for best tv movie/miniseries.  The awards ceremony is 23 November in New York City. Congratulations and best of luck to all involved!

Daniel Mays – Soccer AM – 12 September 2015

Daniel Mays was a guest on Sky’s Soccer AM on Saturday 12 September. Danny discussed The Red Lion and football topics.

Daniel Mays Interview – BBC Radio 5 Live – Afternoon Edition

Daniel Mays was a guest on today’s Afternoon Edition on BBC Radio 5*.

Danny’s fantastic interview with Sarah Brett and Dotun Adebayo touched on The Red Lion at the National Theatre, non-league football, his acting experiences with Mike Leigh, some career highlights including Mrs Biggs, Atonement (the amazing filmed Dunkirk beach scene!). Danny also discussed the much anticipated Dad’s Army film and Line of Duty projects that are coming up in 2016!

Make sure to listen back to the Afternoon Edition interview here for the next 30 days. Danny’s interview is approximately an hour and 15 minutes in to the broadcast and continues through to the top of the third hour.

Daniel Mays appeared on Sunday Brunch this morning on Channel 4. This was Danny’s second visit to the kitchen with Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer. Danny discussed The Red Lion and the upcoming Dad’s Army (expected February 2016 release) film. Always a great interview and we loved seeing Danny back in the Sunday Brunch kitchen.

The Red Lion 

The Red Lion is back on stage this Thursday  9 July with performances through 25 July.

Tickets are available for those performances plus the remainder of the run through 30 September. Book tickets online via The National Theatre.

Friday Rush ticketing continues every Friday at 1pm and day tickets are usually available for most performances.
