The first trailer for Fisherman’s Friends was released today:
A fast-living, cynical London music executive (Danny Mays) heads to a remote Cornish village on a stag weekend where he’s pranked by his boss (Noel Clarke) into trying to sign a group of shanty singing fishermen (led by James Purefoy). He becomes the ultimate ‘fish out of water’ as he struggles to gain the respect or enthusiasm of the unlikely boy band and their families who value friendship and community over fame and fortune. As he’s drawn deeper into the traditional way of life he’s forced to re-evaluate his own integrity and ultimately question what success really means.
Starring Daniel Mays, James Purefoy, Tuppence Middleton, David Hayman, Dave Johns, and Noel Clarke, FISHERMAN’S FRIENDS was shot on location in Cornwall and comes from director Chris Foggin (KIDS IN LOVE) with a screenplay by Nick Moorcroft (FINDING YOUR FEET), Meg Leonard (FINDING YOUR FEET) and Piers Ashworth (ST. TRINIANS).
Fisherman’s Friends will be released in the UK on 15 March 2019.
The Interrogation of Tony Martin airs this Sunday, 18 November at 9PM on Channel 4. The Tony Martin case captivated the UK. Was it a case of self-defense or murder? Daniel Mays stars as DC Peters along with Steve Pemberton as Tony Martin in this exciting and innovative drama taken verbatim from police interviews in 1999.
The Interrogation of Tony Martin is scheduled to air on Sunday 18 November at 9PM on Channel 4. Daniel Mays (Line of Duty, Born to Kill), Steve Pemberton, and Stuart Graham (The Fall, Thirteen, Hunger) star. The drama is written and directed by David Nath for Story Films. Nath is the award winning filmmaker behind BAFTA-winning documentary The Murder Detectives and C4 drama The Watchman.
The Interrogation of Tony Martin will offer up an account of the three days of police questioning following his arrest for shooting two burglars who broke into his farmhouse in 1999. At his trial Martin argued he had used reasonable force to defend himself and his property. His conviction provoked public outcry and the case became a national cause celebre.
Tune in to Sky Atlantic this evening at 9PM for the My Dinner with Herve UK premiere.
Inspired by a real story, My Dinner With Herve explores the unlikely friendship between struggling journalist Danny Tate (Jamie Dornan) and Hervé Villechaize (Peter Dinklage), the world’s most famous knife-wielding French dwarf actor, as it unfolds over one wild night in L.A. — an encounter that will have life-changing consequences for both.
Directed by Sacha Gervasi, with a screenplay by Gervasi and story by Gervasi & Sean Macaulay, the film is executive produced by Steven Zaillian, Richard Middleton, Ross Katz, Jessica de Rothschild, Sacha Gervasi and Peter Dinklage. Garrett Basch and David Ginsberg serve as co-executive producers.
Daniel Mays stars as Casey a fellow journalist who works with Danny Tate (Jamie Dornan).
His job is a drag, his wife may be cheating on him, and he’s not getting any younger. Accountant Eric (Rob Brydon) is simply treading water when he discovers a newfound sense of purpose thanks to an unexpected source: a group of similarly stuck-in-a-rut guys who have found camaraderie and self-worth through synchronized swimming. Sure, they may be a bit paunchy, but they’re determined to prove they have what it takes to be a whirling, twirling, scissor-kicking aquatic dream team. And they’ve set their sights on the ultimate prize: the world championship. Showcasing the sharp wit of The Trip series’ Rob Brydon, Swimming With Men is a big-hearted, delightfully offbeat ode to answering your calling, no matter where you are in life.
Swimming with Men smart and funny comedy, Swimming with Men features lovely performances from Jim Carter, Rupert Graves, Daniel Mays, Adeel Akhtar and Thomas Turgoose as would-be synchronised swimmers, all of whom are using the sport to deal with their own issues
Check out the new US trailer:
The Swimming with Men pool opens in select US cinemas and VOD on Friday 7 December!
If you are in the UK, the film is released on DVD on 12 November!
Amazon released the first full trailer for Good Omens this past weekend at the New York Comic Con (NYCC) in New York City:
Described as equal parts humor and horror, fantasy and drama, Good Omens takes place in 2018 when the Apocalypse is near and Final Judgment is set to descend upon humanity. The armies of Good and Evil are amassing, Atlantis is rising, and tempers are flaring. Everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan — except that Aziraphale, a somewhat fussy angel, and Crowley, a fast-living demon, are not looking forward to the coming war, and someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist.
Neil Gaiman, writer, says: “Almost 30 years ago Terry Pratchett and I wrote the funniest novel we could about the end of the world, populated with angels and demons, not to mention an 11 year-old Antichrist, witch-finders and the four horsepeople of the Apocalypse. It became many people’s favourite book. Three decades later, it’s going to make it to the screen. I can’t think of anyone we’d rather make it with than BBC Studios, and I just wish Sir Terry was alive to see it.”
Joe Lewis, Head of Comedy and Drama, Amazon Studios, says: “Spanning not only the universe but also the entirety of time, Neil Gaiman has created a story that may be the largest ever told on television. We’re excited to be working with BBC Studios to bring Neil and Terry Pratchett’s incredible book to life and to Prime members everywhere.”
Daniel Mays stars as Arthur Young the unwitting father of the antichrist and David Tennant (Crawley) and Michael Sheen (Aziraphale) play the demon and angel trying to stall the end of the world as they know it.
Commenting on his casting back in August 2017, Daniel Mays said he was: “Beyond overjoyed to be jumping on board Good Omens. It’s not everyday you get to play the father of the antichrist! Neil Gaiman’s scripts are out of this world and the cast they’ve assembled are second to none. Can’t wait to get cracking!”
The End is Nigh…in 2019! Good Omens will launch globally on Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories in 2019 including in the UK, where it will also air on BBC Two at a later date after it’s online debut in the US.
The London premiere of Two for Joy was held this evening (26 September 2018) at Everyman Cinema Kings Cross.

Trailer:
Vi has been forced to grow up fast; mother-daughter roles are reversed, Vi is Aisha’s carer as well as trying to control her rascal younger brother Troy, who with no father figure and a struggling mother, is a law unto himself – something must give, the situation must change.
TWO FOR JOY has been conceived and developed over the last six years through a series of short films and photo projects by Tom Beard. It’ll be a bold, unique and distinct departure from your classical social-realist film, while un-voyeuristically exploring and bringing into the public eye the consequence of some serious, British, topical themes that are often short-changed by the government, and under-represented on our screens.
Daniel Mays stars as Lias.
