We are happy to announce the great news that Daniel Mays has joined the cast of the long awaited sequel to Chicken Run – Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget. The film will premium on Netflix in 2023.
Danny announced earlier:
🚨The chickens have finally come home to roost! 🐓 I'm thrilled to share with you all I’ve joined the cast of the new Chicken Run sequel, CHICKEN RUN: DAWN OF THE NUGGET directed by Sam Fell. @aardman’s brand new film hatches only on @NetflixFilm in 2023. https://t.co/NL8Vx8SWyXpic.twitter.com/ryE8PWwWhr
(From the Netflix announcement) A project incredibly dear to the hearts of Aardman, and something that everyone at Netflix is excited about. Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, the eagerly anticipated sequel to the highest-grossing stop-motion animated film of all time, will be coming exclusively to Netflix in 2023. Over the years, a sequel was often discussed at Aardman but the studio needed the right story and the right partner. Following Robin Robin, another collaboration seemed like a no-brainer and the perfect time to bring back our poultry heroes to the world.
Like its 2000 predecessor, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget is a comedy action-adventure. When your heroes have to summon up all their resources to break into an impenetrable fortress, and those heroes are chickens, then comedy is deep in its DNA. But there’s also a very moving family story at its heart. We’re thrilled to announce that Ginger and Rocky will be played by Thandiwe Newton and Zachary Levi, respectively. They’re fabulous together. Bella Ramsey will voice their headstrong daughter, Molly — a true chick-off-the-old-block who completes the family trio in this new chapter. Reprising their roles are Jane Horrocks (Babs), Imelda Staunton (Bunty) and Lynn Ferguson (Mac), joined by new additions Josie Sedgwick-Davies (Frizzle), David Bradley (Fowler), Romesh Ranganathan (Nick), Daniel Mays (Fetcher) and Nick Mohammed (Dr. Fry). Sam Fell (Flushed Away and Oscar-nominated ParaNorman) will direct the film, on which production is already underway.
We are thrilled that Danny has joined this cast! Like everyone, we are enormous fans of the original Chicken Run film and the Wallace & Grommit franchise. We will have updates on this new project as they are released. In the meantime, we’re off to re-watch Chicken Run (for the 1000th time)!

A stellar line-up, including Daniel Mays, David Oyelowo, Paralympian Amy Conroy and actors Dame Harriet Walter, Jason Watkins, and Kadiff Kirwan have joined forces in a thought-provoking short film for Stand Up To Cancer.
Marking the return of the joint national fundraising campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4, the film highlights the positive change which can be achieved when humanity stands up for what it believes in. The famous faces appear alongside cancer patients, their loved ones, and medical staff as they call upon the nation to Stand Up To Cancer.
The film, produced by Nonsense London, opens with Kadiff Kirwan watching footage of Black Lives Matter protests and a woman following the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccination programme. It then cuts to David Oyelowo reflecting on how standing up “builds community, changes history and shapes the future.”
If you are able to, we encourage you to donate to this very worthy cause at the Stand Up To Cancer website.

Earlier this year, PBS’ MASTERPIECE and Britbox UK announced that they will co-produce and broadcast Magpie Murders, a new drama based on the bestselling novel written by Anthony Horowitz OBE.
The six-part series is produced by Jill Green and Eleventh Hour Films. Lauded as “a magnificent piece of crime fiction” and “an ingenious novel within a novel” by the Sunday Times (London), Magpie Murders topped multiple best-seller lists including the New York Times and Los Angeles Times and appeared on the year-end Best Books lists of NPR, USA Today and others. Its international awards include the prestigious Macavity Award for Best Novel. A beguiling murder mystery with a solution that will both astonish and shock viewers, the plot of Magpie Murders revolves around the character Susan Ryeland, an editor who is given an unfinished manuscript of author Alan Conway’s latest novel, but has little idea it will change her life.
The television adaptation is scripted by Horowitz, who is known to MASTERPIECE fans for the popular World War II mystery Foyle’s War. MASTERPIECE executive producer Susanne Simpson said, “Anthony Horowitz is a master mystery writer, and Magpie Murders is a beautiful and complex work. Our MASTERPIECE audience will truly enjoy this intriguing story of a mystery within a mystery.” MASTERPIECE is presented on PBS by WGBH Boston.Anthony Horowitz said, “Magpie Murders is my most successful novel and it wasn’t easy to adapt. But I think the result is a completely original drama that will delight and beguile audiences in equal measure.” Jill Green said, “This is an extraordinary and distinctive drama. I don’t think there’s ever been a crime show like it with a strong female lead treading the line between reality and fiction as she fights to uncover the truth.” Magpie Murders is streaming in the U.K. exclusively on BritBox UK.
