The Limehouse Golem – Trailer

TLG

Lionsgate UK has released the first trailer and cinema poster for The Limehouse Golem and it features Daniel Mays as George Flood:

The LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is a gothic murder mystery set in London’s dangerous Limehouse district in 1880. In the style of Se7en or The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, it stars Bill Nighy, Olivia Cooke and Douglas Booth. Written by Jane Goldman (Kingsman, Kick-Ass, The Woman in Black), it is based on Peter Ackroyd’s novel ‘Dan Leno and the Limehouse Golem’ and is directed by Juan Carlos Medina (Painless).

A series of gruesome and bloody murders have shaken the Limehouse community. So monstrous and ruthless are these crimes the press claim they’re the work of ‘The Golem’ – a legendary creature from dark times…

Confronted by a murderer of a yet unknown kind and with no genuine leads, the police put the relatively inexperienced Detective Inspector Kildare (Bill Nighy) on the case, a scapegoat for when the next victim surfaces.

Daniel Mays stars as George Flood along with Bill Nighy, Morgan Watkins, Douglas Booth, Olivia Cooke, and others.

The Limehouse Golem is released in UK cinemas on 1 September 2017 and 8 September 2017 in US cinemas and on demand.

It was announced today that Daniel Mays has joined the cast of Oliver Parker’s (Dad’s Army) new comedy film “Swimming with Men”.

Oliver Parker’s synchronized-swimming comedy “Swimming With Men,” which stars Rob Brydon (“The Huntsman: Winter’s War”), has rounded out its cast, with “Downton Abbey’s” Jim Carter, “Sherlock’s” Rupert Graves and “Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie’s” Jane Horrocks among those boarding the film. HanWay Films is selling the pic.

The cast also includes Adeel Akhtar, Daniel Mays, Charlotte Riley, Thomas Turgoose, and Nathaniel Parker. Principal photography started Tuesday in London, Hertfordshire and Essex.

The film tells the story of a man suffering a mid-life crisis (Brydon) who finds new meaning to his life as part of an all-male, middle-aged, amateur synchronized swimming team.

Synopsis:
SWIMMING WITH MEN is a heart-warming comedy about a man in the throes of a mid-life crisis who finds meaning in the most unlikely of places: an all-male, middle-aged, amateur synchronised swimming team.

At the heart of the story is Eric, a 40-something stuck in a rut. With his marriage in tatters and his life generally going to pieces, Eric finds unexpected refuge in the company of a motley crew of middle-aged, slightly saggy men, who meet up once a week at the local municipal pool literally and figuratively to tread water together.

Eric slowly realizes that there’s strength in numbers, and that if this unlikely band of misfits can become a real team they might just have a shot at winning the Unofficial Male Synch-Swimming World Championships – and maybe even at turning their lives around.

Oliver Parker, Director of Swimming with Men said:

It’s a real privilege to be working with a British ensemble of such high calibre – and to chuck them in the pool.

Gabrielle Stewart, Managing Director of HanWay Films said:
SWIMMING WITH MEN has the DNA of some of our most beloved British comedies, from THE FULL MONTY to CALENDAR GIRLS. If just half of the fun we have seen in practice in the pool these last few weeks translates onto the screen, we are in for another British comedy classic treat. Good luck in the pool everyone!

Based on the Dylan Williams’ 2010 documentary “Men Who Swim,” the film is written by Aschlin Ditta. It is produced by Stewart le Marechal and Anna Mohr-Pietsch for Met Film and Maggie Monteith of Dignity Film Finance, in association with Amp Film. Paul Webster and Guy Heeley of Shoebox Films will serve as executive producers.

Icon Film Distribution will release “Swimming With Men” in the U.K. and Ireland in 2018. Worldwide sales are handled by HanWay. It has already sold to Icon for Australia, Alamode in Germany and Sun Distribution Group for Spain and Latin America.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new project!

Born to Kill is a must-see 4-part psychological thriller starring Daniel Mays, Romola Garai and newcomers Jack Rowan, and Lara Peake:

Born To Kill is a haunting four-part drama exploring the mind of Sam, a teenager on the verge of acting out suppressed psychopathic desires. As this chilling coming of age drama unfolds, decades of deceit are revealed and Sam’s family’s long buried past returns with a vengeance.

Starring Romola Garai (The Hour, Suffragette) and Daniel Mays (Made in Dagenham, Line of Duty, Rogue One: A Star Wars story,) as the single parents of two out-of-control teens, Born to Kill is the first commission for female writing duo Tracey Malone (Rillington Place) and first time TV writer and BIFA-nominated actress Kate Ashfield.

Sam, played by newcomer Jack Rowan, lives with his protective mum Jenny (Romola Garai), a geriatric nurse, and thinks his dad died in a car crash…

While working at the local hospital, Jenny meets the charming Bill (Daniel Mays). New to town with his moody teenage daughter Chrissy, played by rising star Lara Peake, Bill’s trying to reconnect with his elderly mother Margaret (Elizabeth Counsell, Song For Marion). Just as Jenny and Bill start to hit it off, their kids meet at school and also form an instant attraction. Sam feels like he’s finally met someone that he can relate to, but does she really share his desire… to kill?

At the same time, Jenny learns that her ex, Sam’s dad, a violent man named Peter (Richard Coyle, The Fall), is nearing his parole date. Jenny must now face telling her son that not only is his father alive, he’s also a convicted murderer.

As this menacing drama unfolds, Jenny, Sam and Peter’s long buried past comes back to haunt the fractured family. Will Jenny discover, despite her best efforts, that Sam and his dad are more alike than she could have ever imagined?

Born To Kill was directed by Bruce Goodison (Murdered By My Father, Doctor Foster).

It is executive produced by Jake Lushington (The Devil’s Whore) for World Productions and commissioned for Channel 4 by Head of Drama Beth Willis and Head of International Drama Simon Maxwell.
